The New York State Osteopathic Medical Society is the only
professional society in the state that represents the interests of
osteopathic physicians. The organization continues to change and offer
advanced membership services. We are your voice in Albany, recent
activities include:
- Keep fighting for tort reform, and keep defeating regressive
liability proposals.
- Strengthen the new managed care law.
- Tackle tough public health issues, such as new HIV testing
rules.
- Work for physicians to have the right of collective
negotiations.
- And much more.

Important Message from NYSOMS President NEW
[6/19/2009] - NYSOMS President Richard Terry, DO, sent a letter to members urging them to get involved in the legislative process NOW, before changes are made without physicians' input. He also urged members to voice their opinions on healthcare reform.

Nominations open for 2009 AOA Mentor of the Year
[5/29/2009] - The AOA Mentor Recognition Program honors DOs who help shape the future of the osteopathic medical profession through their involvement with students, postdoctoral trainees and new physicians.
The AOA 2009 Mentor of the Year is someone who has provided osteopathic medical students, interns, residents, and new physicians in practice with invaluable advice throughout their careers; teaching the lessons of the osteopathic medical profession, and in some cases the lessons of life. more

The AOF is excited to offer the following award to our list of extraordinary opportunities for 2009 . . . Apply Today !
AstraZeneca Spirit of Humanity Award: Providing health care to underserved communities continues to be a national concern. The AstraZeneca Spirit of Humanity Award honors the extraordinary efforts of those who provide urgently needed health care services to the indigent, underserved, or those with barriers to quality health care.
The recipient of this $10,000 award will be an osteopathic physician, center, or program that provides urgently needed health care to these populations.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JUNE 19, 2009.
(The recipient will be notified in July and presented with his/her award on November 1st at the annual AOF Honors Celebration in New Orleans.)
