[10/1/2015] - Today, the U.S. health care system moves to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision  ICD-10. Weve tested and retested our systems in anticipation of this day, and were ready to accept properly coded ICD-10 claims. more

[6/15/2015] - Several NYSOMS past-presidents were honored during the President's Reception at ROC-NY 2015, thanks to the efforts of longtime  program chair, Freda Lozanoff, DO. "You can't know where you're going until you know where you've been," she said. more

[6/8/2015] - Complementing the ROC-NY 2015 theme, "The Evolution of Healthcare," the theme of the ROC-NY President's Reception was "The Evolution of NYSOMS." All NSYOMS past-presidents were honored, and former presidents, Martin Diamond, DO, and Cindy Hoffman, DO, presented a fascinating history of our society--going back to the 19th Century. [6/1/2015] - Now it its second year, the NYSOMS Student Research Poster Competition is on its way to becoming as popular--and as competitive--as the Intern/Resident Poster Competition, a longtime staple of NYSOMS' annual convention. Treating Tobacco Use Learning Module Available Online
[3/16/2015] - The New York City Health Department has developed an interactive online learning module entitled, Treating Tobacco Use to enhance provider knowledge on how to effectively assess, counsel and treat tobacco use. As the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., we as health care professionals are in a prime position to help our patients successfully quit tobacco, while simultaneously lowering their risk of heart disease, stroke, COPD and other diseases.

New Medscape Resources Offer CME/CE Credits
[11/12/2014] - The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released three new resources to help small physician practices prepare for ICD-10. These resources also provide continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education (CE) credits to health care professionals who complete the learning modules, and anyone who takes them will earn a certificate of completion. If you are a first-time visitor to Medscape, you will need to create a free account to access these resources. more

Governor Paterson Delivers Keynote at NYSOMS' Annual Meeting
[6/11/2013] - Thanks to a little help from our friend, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean Robert Golberg, DO, NYSOMS was able to "snag"  former New York Governor David Paterson as keynote speaker for NYSOMS' Annual Meeting, held during ROC-NY. Gov. Paterson currently serves as Distinguished Professor of Health Care and Public Policy at TouroCOM. You can listen to excerpts of his speech on the attached audiotape. more
